Tiger Wrestling Defeats 11th Ranked Cumberlands 19-18 in Dual Match

Campbellsville, KY – The Campbellsville University Tiger Wrestling team, ranked number one in the NAIA, came from behind to defeat the 11th ranked University of the Cumberland Patriots last night by a 19-18 score in Williamsburg.

The Tigers won six of ten matches and true freshman George Sheppard helped Campbellsville seal the win with is 11-5 decision over pre-season #7 ranked Grant Hoppel in the 157# division, the last match of the evening.

The Tigers were without top ranked wrestlers Zach Flake and Jacob Murton who are both still nursing pre-season injuries but still prevailed with many new faces in the lineup. True freshman Johnny Sinchok and newcomer Dallas Hesseltine both wrested well to come up with wins while Kyle Norred, Chad Brown and Glen Jackson also scored decisions that helped the Tigers improve to 2-0 on the season.

Campbellsville participates in the Missouri Open on November 18th.
