Tigers Toppled by Georgetown 75-63 In Mid-South Conference Opener

Georgetown, Kentucky - Two NAIA Men's Basketball heavyweights battled this afternoon in Georgetown as 2nd rated Georgetown defeated 9th ranked Campbellsville 75-63.
 
Campbellsville entered the game 17-3 while Georgetown was 20-0.   Both teams battled even for an edge through the first fourteen minutes of the game but when Campbellsville's Nestor Colemenares (JR/Caracas, Venezuela) picked up his second foul with 5:45 remaining in the half, the advantage went to Georgetown.


Georgetown was then able to obtain some momentum and spurted to a 38-30 halftime lead.  In the second half, Georgetown was able to spread the lead into the low 20's as Campbellsville battled with Colmenares in foul trouble.    Campbellsville missed a total of 14 free throws in the game which helped to doom the Tigers to their fourth loss of the season.
 
Bubba Long (SR/Owensboro, KY) led the Tigers with 15 points while Deveon Jenkins (JR/Chicago, IL) had 12 for Campbellsville.  Colemenares scored 8 points and grabbed 11 rebounds before fouling out of the game.
Georgetown was led by Demetrius Guoins with 19 points.
 
The two teams will meet in Campbellsville on February 16th.
 
Campbellsville falls to 17-4 (0-1 MSC) while Georgetown improves to 21-0.  Campbellsville hosts Lindsey Wilson College on Thursday night in the Powell Athletic Center in a men/women double header.
