Box Score Campbellsville mounted a furious comeback in the second half at Georgetown on Saturday in a matchup of Mid-South Conference East Division football teams but the Tigers in maroon and gray fell just short in a 51-45 shootout battle.

Campbellsville scored on the opening possession of the game on a 12 play, 66-yard scoring drive which was capped by
Greg Fountain's 2-yard touchdown run.
David Hon tacked on the PAT kick and Campbellsville had the lead 7-0 with 9:41 to play in the first period

The two teams would trade scores in the first period, with Campbellsville settling for a field goal on one possession and the Tigers led 17-14 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second frame Georgetown would score three times compared to Campbellsville's one score which was a 42-yard rumble by
Greg Fountain, his second touchdown of the day. The homestanding Tigers led 29-18 at halftime.

Georgetown would stretch the lead to 36-18 in the third quarter before Campbellsville mounted its furious comeback.Â
Stan Warren-Huffman caught his second touchdown pass of the game and
Russell Parker snagged a six yard catch to pull the Tigers within a 42-37 margin at the end of three periods.

Georgetown connected on a 14-yard field goal to make the score 45-37 and the Tiger offense then took control as Fountain broke free for his third touchdown of the day on a 38-yard scamper with 8:57 to play. The Tigers made the two point conversion and tied the ame at 45-45.

The home standing Tigers in orange and black answered with a touchdown on their next possession, but missed the PAT which gave Campbellsville a sign of life with 2:00 to play. However, the Tigers found themselves plagued by penalties on their final possession and
Ross Deaton's long pass on 4th down and 30 yard to go was intercepted and Georgetown preserved the win.

Fountain had 29 carries for 257 yards and three touchdowns for Campbellsville as Deaton was 20 of 33 fof 255 yards and three touchdowns along with one interception on the day.

The Tigers will be at home on Saturday, November 1st against the University of the Cumberlands. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
