Men's Basketball Falls In Exhibition Game at University of Arkansas

The Campbellsville Tigers went toe to toe with one of the elite NCAA Division I basketball programs, the Arkansas Razorbacks on Monday evening in Fayetteville Arkansas.

Playing in front of a crowd at the famous Bud Walton Arena, Campbellsville led 7-3 with 17:54 to play in the first half before the homestanding Razorbacks would go on a 30 to 7 run that would boost them to a 20 point lead midway through the first half.   Arkansas would coast to a 103-58 win over the Tigers.

"What you saw tonight out of us is not what you will see in the near future," said CU Head Coach Keith Adkins after the game.  "We knew Arkansas would be very talented and even though we have some experience and talent, it's a whole different level stepping up into NCAA Division I.   At the same time, we used the game to see what it is we need to work on between now and Saturday's season opener against Mid-Continent and there are a few things our guys are going to have to catch onto pretty quickly," he admitted.

Campbellsville was led by Aaron Wyatt's ten points while Justin Vitatoe and Zach Allender both had nine points.  Hristo Petkov added 8 points off the bench for the Tigers and snagged seven rebounds.  Allender, making his return since knee surgery last year, also had seven boards for the Tigers.

Five Arkansas players scored in double digits led by Michael Washington's 22 points.

Campbellsville opens the season on Saturday at the Lindsey Wilson Classic against Mid-Continent University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. eastern time and the game can be heard on the CU Sports Network of AM stations, including AM 1450 WTCO in Campbellsville and via streaming audio.
