If there were any questions surrounding the comeback of
Zach Allender after missing last season following knee surgery, the 6'7 senior started answering them today by posting a double-double as Campbellsville bested Mid-Continent 78-74Â at the Lindsey Wilson College Classic in Columbia, Kentucky.

Allender had a game high 22 points and hauled down 10 rebounds to lead the Tigers to the season opening win in a game that stayed close throughout.

The Tigers built a ten point lead in the first half and at the beginning of the second half but Mid-Continent would regain the leadat 53-52 with 13:32 to play.

The lead would then swap on thre more occasions before Campbellsvile would take control for good at the 8:15 mark when Gerald Kohn nailed a three pointer to give Campbellsville the 61-60 lead. From there, Campbellsville stretched the lead to 9 and Mid-Continent could get no closer than 3 points as Campbellsville sealed the game with late free throws from
Jordan Benock.

Justin Vitatoe had 12 points each and
Aaron Wyatt added ten points.Â
Hristo Petkov had 9 points and 10 rebounds as all ten players Campbellsville used reached double digit minutes.

The Tigers, now 1-0, travel to Montgomery, Alabama next weekend. They will play Auburn-Montgomery on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and homestanding Faulkner on Saturday.
