Senior Night Heartbreak: Cumberlands Beats Campbellsville 74-72 In Overtime

Campbellsville, Kentucky - The Campbellsville University Tigers could have all but sealed the #2 seed in next week's Mid-South Conference Tournament tonight with a win over the University of the Cumberlands.  However, the 18th ranked Patriots pulled off a stunning overtime win in the Powell Athletic Center that will leave Campbellsville as the likely 3rd seed when the tournament begins next week.
Cumberlands' Chad Byron hit a jumper in the lane with .8 of a second left and Campbellsville's Bubba Long's desperation three fell short in overtime as the Tigers fell to 21-8 and are now 4-5 in Mid-South Conference play.  The loss muddles the chances of Campbellsville receiving an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament next month in Kansas City as the team could finish no better than 5-5 in league play.

Campbellsville led 34-25 at halftime but Cumberlands charged back to tie the game at the end of regulation at 63.  Byron's runner came after the Tigers had tied the game and it appeared a second overtime would be forced.
Nestor Colemenares (JR/Caracas, Venezuela) had 22 points for Campbellsville while Long (Owensboro, KY) added 20.
Campbellsville has secured the #3 seed in next week's Mid-South Conference Tournament and travels to West Virginia Tech to end the regular season on Saturday.
