Box Score Campbellsville University's oldest rivalry has been restored, as the Fighting Tigers knocked off No. 19 Georgetown College, 21-14, at home Saturday.
Calvin Bini tipped away a game-tying touchdown as time expired at Finley Stadium, giving CU its first win against the orange and black since 1997 and keeping Campbellsville in the hunt for a Mid-South Conference East Division title.
"I think this is huge, because you can't have a rivalry if one team constantly dominates it. In order for this to be the rivalry it used to be, and that we want it to be, we have to win some and they have to win some. For us to get this victory, it shows this is a heated battle, a respected one, but a heated battle that brings pride back into the program," said CU head coach
Perry Thomas.
Thomas becomes only the second Campbellsville coach to beat Georgetown, joining long-time CU head coach Ron Finley, who beat Georgetown in 1992, 1996 and 1997. The win meant even more to Campbellsville, since they are playing this season for Finley, who passed away two weeks ago.
"There is no one who would want to beat Georgetown more than Coach Finley, and we know he is looking down and grinning ear-to-ear," said Thomas.
Campbellsville scored on its second series of the game, as freshman back Dy'lan Underwood of LaGrange, Ky., capped a 59-yard drive with a 9-yard touchdown run. He set up the play with a 46-yard run on third down.
Georgetown answered on its fourth series of the game, scoring on a 7-yard run by Nick Blair with 5:51 to play in the first quarter.

Late in the second quarter, the Fighting Tigers struck again, as Bini returned a punt 54 yards to the Georgetown 9.
David Mason, a sophomore from Columbus, Ohio, punched the ball in from the 1 in his first game back from injury.
David Hon, who was 3-for-3 on extra point attempts, made the score 14-7 with a successful PAT.
Georgetown tied the game, 14-14, on a 22-yard pass from Mike Lewis to Kaelin Ammons with eight seconds left in the first half.
Both teams were held scoreless through the third quarter, but Mason punched in his second touchdown with 9:55 minutes remaining to give Campbellsville the lead, 21-14.
"I'm glad I was able to contribute," said Mason, who sprained his MCL during practice in week four of the season. "I know the community and the alumni are excited about this win. I'm just happy to be a part of it."
With 1:36 remaining in the game, Georgetown took over on its own 20, marching down field in eight plays to the Campbellsville 36. A false start backed Georgetown up to the 41. Facing third-and-15 from the 41 moments later, Rob Madon caught a pass on the Campbellsville 3 with three seconds left, as Bini slipped on his coverage. Lewis, who had 146 yards passing, went to the air again as time expired, but Bini was there to tip away the pass to Ammons as the horn sounded.

"Knock it down, whatever I do, don't let them catch the ball," Bini said of his thoughts as he heard the horn expire with the ball in the air. "I slipped on a route the previous play. Before the game, my mom was telling me to stay positive. Coaches were telling me if I mess up to stay positive, so I let that play slide and said, 'I'm gonna' line up for the next one.' Then, I just did what I was coached to do."
As the ball fell away from Ammons, the long awaited celebration began.
"It's long overdue," said CU linebacker coach Tim Rogers, who was a part of the previous wins over Georgetown as a player or student coach. "This rivalry is now kicked back off. It's kind of died the past few years, but it's back now."
Campbellsville, one win away from its first winning season since 2004, is now more focused on remaining in first place in the Mid-South Conference East. CU (5-3, 2-1 MSC) travels to the University of the Cumberlands (7-1, 3-1 MSC) Oct. 31 at 1:30 p.m.
