A dozen Tigers place in King Open

Tommy Pretty and Philip Oudhuis each won their respective weight classes for ninth-ranked Campbellsville University in the King College Open on Sunday, while 12 Tiger wrestlers placed at the tournament.


Pretty beat out CU teammate Paul Sanford, 5-2, in the 133-pound final, while Daphilo Success was fourth in the consolation match, falling to King 's Sterling Briscoe, 18-7.


Oudhuis, the third seed at 174 pounds, edged Sean Abrams Montgomery of King College in the final, 10-9. Bryan Wells was fourth in the competition.




Conor Young was fourth in the 157-pound competition, losing to Lindsey Wilson's Bobby Nash in the consolation match.

At 165 pounds, James Linker and Josh Ashbrook took second and third, respectively. Linker won two matches in the bracket before being pinned by University of the Cumberlands' Corey Bleaken in 5:57. Bleaken pinned Ashbrook in the second round to drop the Tiger wrestler to the consolation bracket. Ashbrook beat Patrick Spano, 7-5, to finish third.

Spencer Adams was runner-up at 184 pounds, falling to King's Brandon Tressler, 7-5.

Diante Wright was pinned in the 197-pound final by King's Frank Morgan, while CU wrestlers Scott Wern and Chris Rowland battled it out for third place. Wern beat his teammate, 7-5, in double overtime.


In the heavy weight competition, Cumberland University's B.J. Stewart pinned Campbellsville's Jeremiah Fennell in 1:51 to take first place.


Campbellsville (0-1) will compete in the Missouri Open on Nov. 22 in Columbia, Mo.
