Two Lady Tiger runners qualify for nationals

Campbellsville University's women's cross country team finished third in the eight-team Mid-South Conference meet at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville on Saturday as two runners qualified for nationals that will be held in Vancouver, Wash. in two weeks.

Coach Scott Hortness had two runners (Amy Etherington and Daisy Perez) to run season bests and Dorjo Khurelbaatar a personal best.

Ethrington and Tawny Vilchis will make the trip to Vancouver, Ethrington finishing sixth overall and Vilchis seventh. Both women were named all-conference.

Ethrington and Erin Collins earned Mid-South Academic Honors for achieving at least a 3.25 GPA.
Cumberland's women took the team trophy and Rio Grande was second.

Etherington, a junior from Versailles, Ky. and who has been injured about half the season, ran a 20:01. Vilchis, a junior from Long Beach, Calif., was four seconds behind at 20:25.  Perez's 20:50 was a season best for the junior from Belle Gardens, Calif. and good for an 11th place finish overall. Natasha Janes, a freshman from Louisville, was 12th overall in 21:03 and Starsha Fant secured the fifth team spot in the time of 22:08, 25th place.

Campbellsville had a team total 63 points, 16 out of second and 21 behind the winner, University of the Cumberlands.
