CU falls to No. 25 Olivet Nazarene

Campbellsville, playing its fourth Top-25-ranked team of the young season, was unable to make it three out of four as Olivet Nazarene University defeated the Tigers, 78-63, Saturday in Bourbonnais, Ill.

"We were never really in the game," said coach Keith Adkins by phone after the game. "They got us down early and never let up."

Campbellsville (7-3) made several runs at Olivet (5-3), Adkins said, but every run was met with an answer from the 25th-ranked team. The Tigers managed to cut the deficit to six or seven in the second half after trailing 48-34 at intermission.

"Every time we made a run they'd do something," said Adkins. "I don't think we were ready to play for whatever reason. We didn't have a lot of energy. Seemed like we had to manufacture every shot. Nothing came easy."

Campbellsville was led in scoring by Nestor Colmenares' 28 points, which tied him for game-high scoring honors with Olivet's Josh Bronke. Colmenares was the only Tiger in double figures.

Adkins' squad was out-rebounded 35-30, but made one (9) more free throw than their opponent.

The Tigers return home for a Wednesday matchup with Spalding at 7:30 p.m.
