Campbellsville scored two goals within six minutes of each other in the
first half and made them hold up for a 2-1 win at home Thursday against
Asbury.
"That was a big win for us," said women's coach
Thom Jones. "Asbury is a good team."
Whitney Hatfield, a freshman from Bardstown, kicked in the first goal
at the 36-minute mark and six minutes later
Kelsey Mandel, a sophomore
from Louisville, banked in a shot on an assist from senior Laura
Swencki.

"We played really good until they scored on us, then we panicked a little bit," said Jones.
Starting CU goalie
Sarah Akers went to the sidelines with a leg injury with 12 minutes gone in the second half and
Erin Grimsley held up pretty good against a late onslaught of Asbury attempts on goal.
The Eagles and Lady Tigers were tied with four shots on goal apiece in the first half, but in the second Asbury dialed up a little more pressure, adding nine more shots to Campbellsville's four.
"We were doing all the little things that we hadn't been doing," said Jones.
The win moved CU's record to 4-2-1 with a home match against Pikeville looming on Sept. 23rd. Asbury dipped to 3-5.
Asbury's lone goal came with 13 minutes to go in the game when Aly Crawford glanced in a shot from a Jen Mendelson pass.
