Campbellsville University's women's and men's cross country teams traveled to Portsmouth, Ohio over the weekend where the women placed third out of 13 teams and the men fifth out of seven in the Shawnee State Invitational.
Emily Wesley, a freshman from Danville, Ky., ran a personal best, eclipsing her previous best time by 15 seconds when she ran a 21:37, good for a 25th placing overall.
The women were led by Elizabethtown, Ky. freshman
Maggie Mattingly who finished fourth overall in the time of 19:30. Other finishers and times for the women included:

Summer Rines, 16th, 20:56;
Lauren Little, 24th, 21:32;
Natasha Janes, 45th, 22:50;
Starsha Fant, 46th, 22:59; Eric Collins, 48th, 23:02 and Casey Vitas, 54th, 23:38.
The women trailed first place Cleveland State and second-place Shawnee State by 35 and 31 points, respectively. CU accumulated 76 points and beat fellow Mid-South Conference teams, Georgetown and Lindsey Wilson, by 50 and 54 points, respectively. West Virginia Tech finished 12th as a team.
Quaalude Reed, a senior from Norwalk, Calif. ran a personal best for the men, knocking off more than half a minute from his previous best with a 27:13, good for 18th place.
Shawnee State won the men's division with 24 points. Georgetown edged Campbellsville for fourth by 12 points (133-145). CU did beat other MSC teams, Lindsey Wilson and University of Virginia - Wise.
