Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. - Campbellsville (2-1) raced to a 38-23 half-time lead against Trevecca, but needed two late 3s by Shawn Savage to peel out a 69-67 win Friday night.



The Tigers, taking on Trevecca Nazarene (3-1) in the Lindsey Wilson Classic, could not stand prosperity as the Trojans closed to within 45-38 with 13 minutes remaining in the game, aided by six CU turnovers in the first eight minutes. It got even worse as the Trojans used a career-night by JP Nyadaro (20 points) to lead 67-63 with just under 30 seconds in the game.

"We learned a lesson tonight," said CU coach Keith Adkins, "and thank goodness it didn't take a loss to learn it.

"We did not take care of business. We were lucky. We got out with a win."

Campbellsville fouled Michael France with 16 second to go trailing 67-66 and the sophomore guard missed both tosses. That set up Savage's top-of-the-key 3 that proved to be the game-winner. Savage ended the game with 12 points on four 3s.

JaVaughn Espritt led a balanced CU attack with 17. Brandon Williams and Brett Crittenden had 12 apiece.

Campbellsville's 13 second-half turnover were its undoing.

"There is no excuse for that," said Adkins. "We have to value the ball more than that. And we were playing four perimeter players most of the second half."

It is right back to the hardwood, as Campbellsville will face Cumberland University in Columbia on Saturday in its second Lindsey Wilson Classic matchup.
