Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. - Campbellsville rolled to an early 22-8 lead and then had to fight off a game Shawnee State team in the conference opener for both teams, 86-67.



"I can't put my finger on it," said coach Keith Adkins. "At times something is missing. We just don't have that consistent level of fire, that level of energy that we need all the time."

The Tigers were great from the arc, canning half of their 22 shots, led by Shawn Savage's five bombs. Brett Crittenden hit three 3s, but his coach was just as happy with his defense.

"Critt was good tonight," said Adkins. "He was just great at the front of our press. He made a lot of correct decisions."

But the win, even though not to his liking, wasn't lost on Adkins.

"There's a lot yet to be determined. This conference is so strong that you just have to play one game at a time and not get too high when you win ,nor too low when you lose."

It was Crittenden's consecutive 3s at about the 13-minute mark of the second half that allowed CU to expand a four-point lead to 10. Five players reached double figures for the Tigers, led by Monie Hudson's 18. JaVaughn Espritt was one rebound shy of a double-double as the California senior had 10 points.

"They made an adjustment in the first half when we were scoring off our press and then we didn't adjust to their adjustment," said Adkins. "I'm still trying to figure out what buttons to push with these guys."

Campbellsville will host Georgetown on Saturday at 4:00.
