Campbellsville ran unto a buzz saw in Rome, Ga. on Friday, losing to the host team 10-1 and then taking it on the chin 6-3 from its second straight undefeated opponent, Reinhardt College, in the Shorter College Softball Invitational.
The Lady Tigers' only hit in game one came in the fourth inning when
Jennifer England doubled in
Bailey Dillender, who had walked. The Lady Tigers had four other base runners, all bases on balls.
Losing pitcher
Allison Horton (1-2) gave up 18 hits to the Lady Hawks who, with the win, are now 9-0 and ranked 12th in the nation.
In game two, Reinhardt improved to 8-0, and their best start in school history, shutting down Campbellsville, even though both teams had eight hits. CU left eight runners stranded and four errors contributed to their undoing.
Cassidy Kroeker (1-2) was the losing pitcher.
The Lady Tigers play two more game on Saturday, meeting Tennessee Wesleyan (noon) and Emmanuel (2 p.m.), before returning home.
