Allison Horton punctuated a five-run third inning with a grand slam in a
5-0 win over Cumberlands in the first game of a double header, but the
Tigers could not get the timely hit in game two and split a Tuesday
double header with a 3-2 defeat.
The loss dropped Campbellsville out of tie in the loss column with
MSC-leading Lindsey Wilson. CU is now 24-14 (12-4 MSC).
Cassidy Kroeker and Horton combined on a one-hitter in the first game as
they split the pitching duties, Kroeker going the first four frames.
CU broke open a scoreless game when
Emma Napier singled and stole second. She scored on
Bailey Dillender's single.
Jennifer England and
Alex Jane Clemmons singled just before Horton's two-out, base-clearing four-bagger.
Dillender, England and Clemmons each had another hit in the game.
In game two, Cumberlands took a 3-1 lead after four and held off the Tigers in the 3-2 loss. Campbellsville managed but five hits - Dillender and Clemmons with two each and
Morgan Bullock with one.
Dillender led off the fourth with a home run and in the sixth the Tigers scored with three singles by Dillender, Clemmons and Bullock.
Campbellsville goes out of conference Thursday with a home twin bill with Union and dips back into conference play with a home double header against Pikeville. Both days the first game begins at 1:00.
