Maggie Mattingly made her collegiate cross country debut Saturday with a third-place time, as Campbellsville University took second at the Sodexho Grizzly Invitational in Franklin, Ind.
Mattingly, who was the first signee for first-year head coach Hilary Cebulko, completed the 5K course in a time of 19:28.15 to lead the Lady Tigers. She was followed, within a minute, by teammate
Tawny Vilchis of California, who was sixth with a time of 19:54.55.
The two Top 10 times helped lift Campbellsville past Hanover College and host institution Franklin College to a second-place finish and combined time of 1:42:53.99. Hanover was 1:23.87 behind CU in third place, while Franklin was fourth, 1:38.57 behind the Lady Tigers. Wilmington College took first place in the meet with a combined time of 1:38:56.87.
Six of Campbellsville's seven runners finished in the Top 25 individually.
Summer Rines was third for CU and 16th overall with a time of 20:56.86, followed on the team by
Amy Etherington with a time of 21:04.26 and 19th place finish.
Lauren Little was 21st overall with a time of 21:30.17 and
Starsha Fant was 25th with a time of 21:40.90.
Emily Wesley rounded out CU's times with a 27th place finish at 21:54.67.
Campbellsville returns to action in Danville, Ky., next Saturday in the Centre College Invitational.
