Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- There was a crowd full of characters in Campbellsville University men's basketball home opener against University of Rio Grande Saturday night, Nov. 19. With the student body picking "random apparel" as the theme for the occasion, there couldn't have been a more perfect theme chosen as the Tigers randomly went scoreless for nearly 11 minutes allowing 22 unanswered points in what would turn into a 65-61 shootout victory for CU.

"The scoreboard may say something differently, but the bottom line is I think Rio Grande out played us tonight. I think they outplayed us for about 25 minutes of the 40," said CU head coach, Keith Adkins during a radio interview after the game. "That's unacceptable, and it's inexcusable. I'll give our guys credit, but this was not a great win. Any win is a good win, but this was not a great win."
Rio Grande drew first blood on a pair of free-throws to take a 2-0 lead, but Campbellsville opened the flood gates on its way to a 40-29 lead into the break. Rio Grande did not take back the lead until well into the second half.
With six seconds left before halftime, Tiger sophomore forward
Kevin Bobson fumbled a pass from teammate
Cedric Henderson for a turnover. But Henderson would redeem for the Tigers, stealing the ball at half court. With seconds ticking off the clock and only three left in the half, the lighting-fast Henderson bolted to the basket for a one-handed slam as time elapsed for an exciting end to the half.
Campbellsville kept the chains rolling out of the half, or at least until they scored 50 that is. Trailing 50-34, Rio took over, hungry for its first Mid-South Conference win since joining the MSC in 2009. Seven minutes after junior guard
Justin Ennis hit a 3 for the Tigers for their 50
th point, Rio gained a 51-50 lead on a basket by Shaun Gunnell. The RedStorm built a 56-50 lead before CU finally answered. But when Campbellsville finally did pick up the phone, it was too much for Rio.

Ennis tied the game up at 56 a piece with a 3 from the corner. Ennis struck again from 3 a minute later to take the lead, 59-56. He finished the night with 16 points. A pair of
Dennis Harris looks from the paint sealed the deal for Campbellsville. Henderson hit a free-throw with five seconds left in regulation to seal the four-point home victory, 65-61. Henderson followed Ennis with 14 points and Harris scored 12.
Campbellsville (3-1, 1-0 MSC) will return to Powell Athletic Center on Monday to host West Virginia Tech University. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WLCU 88.7 FM and online at wlcufm.com.
