Swim team sends seniors off on a happy note

CAMPBELSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University won both ends of a triangular swim meet Saturday and sent its two seniors off on a happy note on Senior Day.

Carrie Wohlschlegel, Shepherdsville, Ky., and April Hill, Floyds Knob, Ind., swam their final home meet as Lady Tigers. Wohlschlegel, who just returned from a semester in England, swam three events. Hill, who has qualified for nationals in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke events, swam three events as well, winning first-place points in all three.

"I was really proud of Carrie pushing through the back pain of an old injury today," said Coach Casey Smith. "Her times were good and her attitude was great. I didn't realize how much I had missed her being in the water.

"April has been such a wonderful addition to our team this year, I am so proud of her growth as an athlete and as an individual. I wish I could keep her a few more years."

Campbellsville got good effort from others as well. Bailey Foxworth and Kyle Perkins improved "a bunch," according to Smith.

"Our 800 medley relay team improved and it was different swimmers than we'd used so far," continued Smith. "I really liked that relay and I might just keep it like that for the future."

CU beat Bethel 71-20 and St. Catharine 81-9. Bethel defeated SCC 48-20.
