Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Tiger soccer ended the nightcap of a MSC double-header with the men taking advantage of two late goals by Alex Ryan and Lewis Fyfe and ended Georgetown's season with a 4-1 victory.
Â
As Kevon Farquharson shot was saved by GC goalkeeper Matthew Oster, Farquharson watched closely as Oster got lazy with the ball and didn't see the freshman forward sneak up behind him to steal the ball and pass it to Ryan to make the score 3-1. Â
Â
As if that didn't take all of the steam out of Georgetown, in the next minute Campbellsville used another goal but this time by Fyfe. He came open in the box and his shot was fired right by Oster.
 Â
"We did exactly what we needed to do to win the game," said Tiger head coach Adam Preston. "When guys needed to step up they did and we counted on others to be there. It was a total team effort tonight."
Â
Campbellsville came out very fast as freshman Ryan Foster came out with two quick shots but Oster was there to make the saves. That set the tone for the rest of the night as Campbellsville outplayed its opponent and held them to only four shots all game.
Â
Roraigh Yearwood scored the game's first goal in the 20th minute as he used a monstrous shot that flew into the net before the Georgetown defense knew what happened.
Â
Ryan extended the CU lead in the first half as he outran the defense and put his first goal in the back of the net.
Â
The game started to get a little physical on both side as five cards were awarded; Georgetown received two yellow cards and two red cards. Assistant Coach Josh Johnson and Josue Romero were both ejected from the game in the 43rd minute.
Â
Romero and Ryan got tangled up on a play just outside the 18-yard box and both players had to be restrained by players and referees.
Â
Campbellsville went into the break with 17 shots and a 2-0 lead and came out of the break exactly where it left off. The Tigers recorded 16 more shots in the second half with a total of 33 compared to four by Georgetown.
Â
Georgetown finally got on the board in the 81st minute as sophomore defender Chris Moyo fouled GC's John Cothran in the box.
Â
A penalty kick was awarded and it was the only real attack Georgetown had all night as Cothran cut the CU lead to 2-1.
Â
But just four minutes later, Campbellsville answered with the two late goals and dashed the hopes of the 6th seeded Georgetown Tigers and ended their disappointing season with a record of 5-12-1.
Â
"I feel like although they did score the late goal, we still dominated the whole game and didn't give them many chances to score. We got a little exhausted at the end and that gave them a boost."
Â
Ryan finished with two goals, which was the second game of his young career finishing with multi-goals.
Â
Yearwood's goal now gives him a team-leading 18 on the year and he also leads the team with eight assists.
Â
Fyfe is in his second season as a CU Tiger after he came to Campbellsville in 2011. After leaving for the 2012 season, Fyfe returned and has been a major asset for the coaching staff. His goal tonight was the first of his collegiate career.
Â
Campbellsville will move on to the semifinals at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky. CU will play at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15. The game will feature a re-match of the 1-1 tie back on Oct. 5th with the then No. 1 team in the nation, University of Rio Grande.
