Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Designated hitter Carlos Torres was the difference-maker in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Mid-East semifinal game against Trevecca Nazarene University tonight. The sophomore had a career-high of five RBIs in the game, including a grand-slam in the bottom of the first to help CU to a 8-4 victory and snap TNU's five-game winning streak.

"I feel great about that win," said head coach Beauford Sanders. "We played so much better than we did yesterday, got control early and built on the lead. We gave them a chance and it made it a little exciting there the last inning. Trevecca is a good club and I knew they wouldn't quit. Patrick McMeel did a good job, we swung the bat well and played good defense. I'm looking forward to tomorrow".
Campbellsville didn't waste any time warming its bats, the first three Tigers in the line-up reaching base safely in the bottom of the first. Second baseman Tanner Nielsen and third baseman Michael Bush got the momentum going, each singling, followed by a Keaton Neeb walk.
With bases loaded and no outs, Trevecca pitcher Austin Huibers finally started unloading the heat, striking out the next two CU batters.
Fortunately it wasn't too much for Torres who unleashed a long-ball over the left field fence for a Tiger grand slam, putting CU on top 4-0.
The Trojans quickly answered, though, as center fielder Blake Rogers homered to begin the second and a Tiger error allowed another later in the inning (4-2 CU).
Huibers got a quick two outs for TNU in the bottom of the second, but followed with two walks and hit two with a pitch. Wild pitches allowed both Nielsen and Bush to score for the second inning in a row giving Campbellsville the 6-2 lead.
Campbellsville scored another couple runs off two hits and two errors in the fourth, Aaron Schwoebel with a sacrifice fly RBI and Torres with a triple for his fifth RBI of the game to bring the score to 8-2 CU.
Trevecca didn't make any more noise until the seventh inning, scoring two runs on two hits (8-4). McMeel walked Corey Crunk, loading the bases and putting the tying run on. TNU couldn't manage any more runs, though, Tyler Tichenor flying out to Schwoebel to end the game.
McMeel takes the win for CU, pitching all seven innings, allowing six hits, four runs, and striking out seven.
Following Torres' two-hit, five RBI performance were Nielsen, Bush, Keaton Neeb, Brandon Johnson, Tanner Scott, and Travis Hayes with one hit apiece. Schwoebel was the only other Tiger with an RBI in the contest.
The Tigers will face the winner of the Covenant-Trevecca game tomorrow afternoon in the Championship game beginning at 5:00 EST.
