BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Casey Galyon, swimming for the first time in a "yard" pool and in a race other than the 50-freestyle, finished a nice race today in the 100-yard breastroke at the Birmingham-Southern Cross-Plex.

Galyon, a freshman from Louisville, Ky., and her men's and women's teammates competed against the host school and Rhodes and Darton colleges.

"Overall it was a great meet," said coach Casey Smith. "First time back in the water after Christmas break, and only 1 ½ weeks of practice.

"Great swims, great attitudes and team interactions."

Devon Cross improved in his 100 breaststroke, Bailey Foxworth improved in the 1000-yard freestyle and Daniel Fathergill improved in the 500 freestyle, according to Smith.

"Galyon swam the 100 freestyle and breaststroke for the first time this season," continued Smith. "She has done very well back in the pool the last eight days. Lindy Charity swam the 100 backstroke, Tyler Vaughn swam the 200 IM, and all of Tanner Marcum's swims, because of injury, were first times of the season.

"It was a great meet, and we're looking forward to going back to BSC next season. This meet was an excellent way to get set for our senior meet next week at home."
