Tigers blank Asbury, 7-0, on Senior Night

Box Score

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Tiger Soccer collected its first three-game win streak since August with a 5-0 win over Asbury University on Senior Night Tuesday at Finley Stadium.

Before the game started, CU honored seven seniors: Gustav Carlsson, Martin Haapasaari, Adam Fridell, Lewis Fyfe, Hugo Larrazabal, Adam Linderholm and Yves Jean-Baptiste.

Carlsson helped pace CU's scoring in the first half, assisting the Tigers' second, third and fifth goals, two of which were scored by junior striker Roraigh Yearwood in the 11th and 28th minutes. Yearwood opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the fourth minute and finished with his second had trick of the season.

Adam Linderholm squeezed in a goal in the 16th minute off a Carlsson corner kick.

Yearwood later added an assist, going back post to Marcelo Petit, who slid toward the post and into the net as he scored his only goal in the game. Petit hit the crossbar on a penalty kick in the second half.

Campbellsville carried a 5-0 lead into halftime, similar to the women's game against St. Catharine earlier in the evening.

Alex Higdon came off the bench to assist two second half goals. He found Xavier Marti in the 78th minute for Marti's fourth goal of the week. He scored three on Monday in a junior varsity win at University of the Cumberlands. Shane Buchanan netted the Tigers' final goal in the 81st minute.

CU's defense allowed only three shots, all in the second half, and did not allow a shot on goal. CU keeper Josh Hollis recorded the shutout win.

Campbellsville forced a keeper change by the Asbury Eagles in the 33rd minute following their fifth goal of the first half. John Burns started for the Eagles and allowed all frist half goals. Nick Grounds played 57 minutes and allowed the other two goals. Each keeper had one save.

The Tigers (10-6) will travel for their last two regular season games, going to the University of Pikeville for a makeup game Saturday at 6 p.m., and the University of the Cumberlands on Nov. 1.
