McGhee wins again, Tigers fourth at Ohio Northern

ADA, Ohio — Shawn McGhee won his third straight tournament of the season Saturday, claiming the 157-pound title to lead Campbellsville to a fourth-place team finish at the 34th Annual ONU Invitational at the ONU Sports Center.

McGhee (17-0) pinned his first three opponents, and then beat Lindsey Wilson College's Mitchell Judkins, 11-0, and Waynesburg's Luke Lohr, 11-3, by major decisions in the semifinals and final, respectively.

Six Tigers placed in their weight. Following McGhee was 149-pound junior Kyle Terry, who was the only other CU grappler to advance to the finals. Terry lost a 3-2 decision to Kyle Witgen of Olivet College in the final.

Travis McIntosh finished third for CU and contributed 20 team points to CU's team total, the second most behind McGhee's 27.5 points.

Cody Steiner wrestled up to 133, pinning three guys during the day. He finished fifth after beating Heidelberg's Joey Baitt by a 16-6 major decision.

Nate Knauf, a 197-pounder, beat teammate Evan Decker, 9-4, in his first consolation match and went on to finish sixth at the weight.

LJ Henderson finished seventh at 165 pounds, beating Lindsey Wilson's Rhodes Bell, 9-1.

Campbellsville finished with 113.5 points to beat Lindsey Wilson by11.5 points. Olivet (Mich.) won the team title with 148 points, Alma (Mich.) was second with 143 points and No. 20-ranked (NCAA Division II) Tiffin was third with 132 points.

 

CU will travel to Indianapolis next weekend to compete in the Midwest Classic at the University of Indianapolis, Dec. 13-14.
