BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- The Campbellsville Tigers wrestling team started off the weekend with a dual win at Lindenwood University-Bellville, 25-21.Â
Campbellsville started off six points down after forfeiting its match at 125 pounds. Drew Ferguson, 133 pounds, scored CU's first points with a major decision, 9-0. Campbellsville was down 12-4 after Ryu Ballard lost by pin at 141 pounds, but 149-pounder Kyle Terry added six more points with a pin in his first match back from injury.
The pin put Campbellsville down by only two points, 12-10.Â
Terry Harris lost by a pin at 157 pounds and Trey Rhodes gave the Tigers three more points with a win by decision at 165 pounds. The only other loss Campbellsville had was at 174 pounds, Shelby Floyd, by decision.Â
Kyle Sweedman's pin at 184 pounds was a pivotal point in the match, pulling CU back within two points, 21-19. Miguel Santis and Justin McDaniel both closed the dual with decision wins at 197 and heavyweight.
The Tigers (23-4) will continue wrestling Sunday, Feb. 9 at 9 a.m. at the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville Duals against Eastern Michigan University and Grand Canyon University.
