TROUTVILLE, Va. – A late rally fell short for the Lady Tigers Friday night, as Campbellsville University dropped an elimination game to Grace University (Ind.), 3-1, at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Championships.

The loss ends CU's season with a program-best 44 wins. The Lady Tigers were one of six teams remaining in the 10-team tournament.

Grace used a pair of one-out singles to get on the board in the top of the first. Tiffany Featherston singled and stole second before Clarissa Knight drove her in for the first run. Featherston singled again to start the third inning and scored on a double by pitcher Hannah Adams.

The Lancers' lead stood at 2-0 until added another run in the top of the sixth on an error at first.

Campbellsville (44-21) left two runners stranded in both the second and third innings, as well as one in the fourth before scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Alyssa Barker, who hit .545 (6-for-11) in the tournament, hit an infield single to start the seventh and moved to second on a wild pitch. She later scored on a two-out error in leftfield. CU's rally fell short with runners on first and second when Kate Black was struck out by Adams.

Adams pitched the complete-game win without allowing an earned run. She allowed four hits, walked one and hit two.

Taylor Wroe gave up one run off five hits in the first two innings to record the loss. Seniors Courtney Turpin and Martina Riney also gave up a run. Riney pitched the final four innings, allowing only two hits and one unearned run. She struck out five.

Grace will meet Union University (Tenn.) in an elimination game Saturday morning at 12 p.m., while top seeds Shorter University and Oklahoma Christian University will start the day in the winners' bracket final at 10 a.m. The losers' bracket final is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the championship to follow at 4 p.m.
