CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Campbellsville men's and women's tennis teams continued its respective winning streaks today after each defeated University of Pikeville.

In their fourth match in four days, the Lady Tigers' extended their win streak to six-straight matches, with a 7-5 win over the Bears. The Tigers are riding a four-match win streak after their defeat of UPIKE, 8-1.

Pikeville only traveled to the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex with three women's players, but those three gave the Lady Tigers a bit of trouble. The No. 1 doubles pair of Macarena Acuna and Thais Bezerra gave CU's Charity sisters, Megan and Lindy, a run for their money. The game went to a tiebreak, won 7-5 by UPike.

Anna Tumanyan also ran into resistance with Bezerra's strong play, dropping her No. 1 singles match, 6-4, 6-2, snapping a seven-match win streak.

Jenna Sallee and Lindy Charity both defeated their opponents in the No. 2 and 3 spots, respectively. Because UPIKE only traveled with three competitors, it was forced to forfeit its other two doubles and three singles matches, giving the win to CU, 7-2.

On the men's side, things went a little more smoothly.

Alejandro Soriano and Vladyslav Ladygin teamed up in the No. 1 spot to win 8-4. The No. 2 doubles match was a nail bitter all the way to the end between CU's Sebastian Marot/Zach Baulch and UPIKE's Francois Billet/Pawel Tarasewicz. The Tigers came away victorious, 9-8.

CU's Nathaniel Boniel and Parker Jones also picked up an 8-3 win in 3-spot doubles match.

Five-of-six Tigers finished with victories in singles play. Parker Jones dropped his No. 5 match, 6-2, 6-3.

The Lady Tigers improve their record to 7-5 (3-1 MSC), while the Tigers are now 8-3 on the season, and 2-0 in MSC play.
