Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Campbellsville men's and women's tennis teams each dropped a match to powerhouse conference rival Lindsey Wilson Wednesday afternoon. The No. 4-ranked Blue Raiders (6-6, 2-0 MSC) left no doubt as they defeated CU's Lady Tigers 9-0. Faring only a tad better against 5th-ranked LWC, the No. 19 Tigers were helped with a Sebastian Marot win to set the final match score at 8-1.
Lindsey Wilson's strong doubles pair of Alicia Rodriguez and Jessica King quickly brought down CU's No. 1 doubles pair of Anna Tumanyan and Haley Dallas, 8-3.
Megan Charity and Jenna Sallee dropped a nail-biter to LWC pair Henar Munoz and Fiona Curty, going to a tiebreak but falling short. CU's Megan Charity and Meg Brown fell to the No. 3 Lindsey pair of Anna Gaprindashvili and Ana Pinto, 8-2.
In singles play, the Lady Tigers (7-6, 3-2 MSC) struggled to score points against the strong Bleu Raider opponents. Tumanyan, M. Charity, Sallee, and L. Charity all had slight footholds in their matches as they each won two games in their respective sets, but none of them could pull out an upset to win a match.
The CU men (8-4, 2-1 MSC) gained a bit more ground against the Blue Raiders (10-2, 2-0 MSC) in doubles play, but their sole win was by Marot, playing No. 4 singles.
The Campbellsville duo Alejandro Soriano and Vladyslav Ladygin were defeated 8-3 by Edberg Espinoza and Francisco Charters in the No. 1 spot. Another Tiger defeat occurred in the No. 2 match between CU's Marot and Zach Baulch and LWC's Raul Mendez and Denis Porcic, 8-4.
The pair of Nathaniel Boniel and Parker Jones stayed close to Lindsey's Ignacio Huertas and Pablo Vilches, but fell in a tiebreak, 9-7.
In a No. 3 singles match, Boniel dropped his first set in a tiebreak and could not regain his momentum in the second. Soriano in No. 1 and Ladygin in the 2-spot fared no better, dropping their respective matches.
Both teams will take a well-deserved seven-day break from competition, not returning to the courts again until Wednesday, April 8 for a conference matchup at Georgetown College. Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
