Box Score MARIAN, Ind. — Campbellsville University women's tennis got back on track this afternoon with a win over Marian University. Both teams are receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll, but the Lady Tigers made easy work of the 6-3 win. CU men's tennis continued its hot streak, for its eighth win in the last nine matches with a 7-2 victory over the Knights, 7-2.
The Lady Tigers, now 10-7 on the season, tallied five of their six wins in singles matches. Campbellsville's No. 1-5 spots all were victorious over their opponents. Megan Charity, playing in the No. 1 spot for the first time this season, finished off Audrey Rang in three sets. Anna Tumanyan also finished her 2-spot match with a three-set win.
The lone singles loss was taken by Sarah Coffman, who was defeated by Paige Swan, 6-2 and 6-1.
CU dropped two matches in doubles play. Tumanyan and Haley Dallas were defeated by MU's Audrey Rang and Anna Potter, 2-8, and the team of Lindy Charity and Meg Brown took a 3-8 loss to Colleen Yager and Sarah Potter.
CU's doubles win was completed by M. Charity and Jenna Sallee, who won their No. 2 match, 8-4.
The No. 19 Tigers switched around their singles order this weekend as well, playing freshman Vladyslav Ladygin in the 1-spot for the second-straight match. He defeated Jason Denton, 6-3 and 6-4. Alejandro Soriano retired after a 6-1 loss to Jack Hiatt in the first set for the loss.
Sebastian Marot and Johann Fuzieller both won in respective No. 4 and 5 spots in tiebreak sets.
Campbellsville men's doubles took all three matches. The pair of Soriano and Ladygin defeated MU's Marty Pochop and Danny Albert, 8-3. CU's Marot and Zach Baulch handled Denton/Ryan Heuer in an 8-1 win, while Nathan Boniel and Parker Jones completed the trifecta by defeating Hiatt and Taylor Kinney, 8-2.
The Lady Tigers are now 10-7 for the season, while the Tigers have a 12-4 record.
Both teams will return to the courts on Tuesday, April 8 for a conference contest at the University of the Cumberlands. Start time is scheduled for 10 am. ET. CU will then travel to Union College later that afternoon 3 p.m. ET.
