Box Score GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Campbellsville men's and women's tennis teams each dominated conference opponent Georgetown College yesterday evening. The maroon and white Lady Tigers defeated the orange-and-black Lady Tigers (8-5, 3-3 MSC) with a final score of 5-1. The men's 5-0 score looked similar before the inclement weather took over, but the five points CU had already scored counted as a sure win over GC (3-10, 0-3 MSC).
After a much-needed week off from competition, the doubles pairs of Anna Tumanyan/Haley Dallas and Megan Charity/Jenna Sallee were ready to go in the No. 1 and 2 spots, respectively. The CU duo of Tumanyan/Dallas defeated Georgetown's Kaelin Roberts/Kelly Swanson, 8-6. Charity/Sallee won their match, 8-3, over Jacqueline Otis/Shae Henry.
The Lady Tigers saw similar results in singles play as well. Tumanyan and both Charity sisters finished their respective No. 1, 2, and 4 matches with victories. Sallee was also on her way to a W, having won her first set and ahead 3-1 in the second before the storms cut it short.
CU had to drop a point by forfeiting the No. 6 match, and the No. 5 match did not get the chance to start after the lightning warning.
The Tigers, who moved up a spot to No. 19 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 poll last week, were controlling Georgetown before the sudden ending that prohibited them from starting two of their singles matches.
Campbellsville's pair of Alejandro Soriano/Vladyslav Ladygin handled GC's Ryan Simms/Austin Colliver, 8-4 in the No. 1 spot. Sebastian Marot and Zach Baulch went to extra games to win their match against Chris Bartlett/Tristan Nosek, 9-7.
The pair of Nathaniel Boniel and Parker Jones dominated A.J. Berk and Daniel Orr, 8-2.
In singles play, the Tigers swept the two matches that were completed. Vladyslav Ladygin defeated Tristan Nosek, 6-1, 6-0. Boniel moved into the No. 2 singles position and won, 6-1, 6-2 and Sebastian Marot led, 6-1, 3-0 before the weather interrupted play. Johan Fuzellier, led his match, 4-3 but was unable to finish either.
Ben Ward and Eduardo Mendoza all were unable to finish.
After yesterday's match, the Lady Tigers hold a 7-6 record, 3-2 in the MSC, and the Tigers are 8-4 on the season and 2-1 in MSC play. Both teams were scheduled to host University of the Cumberlands today, April 9 but is postponed until tomorrow, April 10 at 3 p.m. ET.
