LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In the final tennis event of the fall for Campbellsville University, the Tigers had four student-athletes compete in the University of Louisville Fall Invitational this weekend.
The highlight from the tournament was
Johan Fuzellier picking up a pair of wins in the D Singles bracket and finishing in fourth place.
In the first round, Fuzellier fell to Peter Foersome from Illinois State 6-4, 6-4 to fall into the consolation bracket. But then he rallied for a pair of wins over Jason Halloway from Wright State (6-2, 6-1) and Alex Swords from Bellarmine (7-6, 6-2). Fuzellier then met with Matt Graft from Xavier University and lost in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-1.
Another Tiger that picked up a win was
Victor Ahlbeck in C Singles. Ahlbeck lost his first match to Aleh Drobysh from Austin Peay (4-6, 7-5, 5-7) but then rallied for a win over Matias Chomali from Illinois State (6-2, 4-6, 6-3).
Alejandro Reyes was the final Tiger to compete in singles (B) but lost his first match to University of Louisville's Santiago Salazar (6-1, 6-1). Reyes later went on to retire against Lipscombs Phillipe Corleau.
Moving to D Doubles,
Adrian Sabrojo and Fuzellier teamed together to pick up a win over Dayton's Reinbold/Druffel, 8-5, before falling to Illinois State's Chomali/Foersome, 8-7.
Other matches came in C Doubles, as Reyes and Ahlbeck lost a pair to Bernardes/Tejas from Tennessee Tech (8-2) and de la Villa/Nardelli from Wright State (8-6).
