OWENSBORO, Ky. — Lady Tiger cross country broke five personal best times and finished in fourth place at the Fast Cats Classic hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan College on Saturday.
A trio of freshmen led CU this weekend in Owensboro. For the fifth straight race to start her career,
Madison Dooley led the Lady Tigers with a 5k career-best of 19:49.44 to finish in 10
th place. The new time is 20 seconds faster than the mark she posted last weekend at the Greater Louisville Classic (20:09).
Miranda Rzendzian also finished with a personal best to place in the Top 33. Rzendzian finished with a time of 20:51.38 to break her mark by 21 seconds.
Taylor Davis finished in 38th place with at time of 21:03 – just four seconds off her career best that she also ran last weekend.
A pair of sophomores finished in 41st and 47th places, respectively.
Julianna Bradley led the upperclassmen in 41st with a time of 21.09 — just two seconds shy of her season best of 21:07. Then
Elise Shainfeld was close behind with a new personal-best time of 21:24.
Jennifer Maxwell finished in 63rd place with a time of 21:59 – beating her personal best by 43 seconds.
A pair of juniors finished in 65th and 71st places, respectively.
Abby Wicke ran her 5k in 22:03, while
Brandi Thomas finished in 22:39.
Rounding out the Lady Tigers was
Lydia Tackett's personal-best time of 27:02.
Centre College's Serena Gale-Butto ran away from the field, winning the championship by over one full minute. Gale-Butto finished the 5k with a time of 17:43 – out-pacing Bellarmine University's Erin Crone who finished in 18:46.
Bellarmine won the team championship with an average time of 19:03 and score of 29 points. Centre followed the Knights in second place, while Lindsey Wilson was third, Campbellsville was fourth and Lincoln Memorial was fifth.
After racing four of the last five weekends, Campbellsville will now have two weeks off to prepare for the St. Louis Fall Classic on Saturday, Oct. 22.
