Lady Tigers vault Life for fourth place at MSC Swim

KINGSPORT, Tenn. — Riding 42 points on relays and 13 individual points by Jen Lewis, the Campbellsville women vaulted Life University and took over fourth place at the MSC Swim Championships today at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.

The third and final day is scheduled to get under way Saturday with preliminary runs beginning at 9 a.m. and finals at 5:00.

Campbellsville qualified three individuals for finals and nine for the consolation heats on Day 2. The Lady Tigers made up an eight-point deficit after Day 1 and now lead Life 148-143.

Bailey Foxworth and Katy Lewis finished fourth and sixth in the finals of the women's 100-yard butterfly and Jen Lewis was fifth in the 400 IM final, securing the Lady Tigers a combined 30 points.

There were 22 season-best marks set by CU swimmers in the morning preliminaries, and 12 more in the finals.

On the women's side, Maria Archila (100 butterfly) Shelby Mattingly (200 freestyle), Emily Hunter and Jen Lewis (100 Breaststroke), and Jessica Cook and Katie Miller (100 backstroke) qualified for the consolation final of their respective events.

For the men, Austin Tucker (100 butterfly), Devon Cross (100 breaststroke), and Cristophe Tilman (100 backstroke) qualified for the consolation finals.

University of the Cumberlands leads the women's competition with 328 points. Lindsey Wilson 288, Lindenwood-Belleville 271, Campbellsville 148, Life 143, Bethel 84 and St. Catharine 28.

Lindenwood leads the men's side with 434 points. University of the Cumberlands 322.5, Lindsey Wilson 262.5, Bethel 106, Campbellsville 89, and Life 22.
