Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Tiger and Lady Tiger tennis each dropped matches to Middle Georgia State University on Day 1 of the Georgia Gwinnett Invitational.
Vladyslav Ladygin ended the day with two of CU's three match wins, as the Knights took the match, 6-3.
Ladygin defeated Middle Georgia State's Nishanth Rebello after Rebello retired in No. 1 singles (4-6, ret.) and teamed up with Alejandro Soriano for a doubles victory over Rebello and Filip Seatovic, 8-5.
Soriano was knocked off in singles, 6-0, 7-6. The pair of Victor Ahlbeck and Adrian Santos fought for a win in the two spot but were knocked off, 9-7.
Ahlbeck claimed the only other point for the Tigers with a 6-2, 6-3 win over his opponent in the sixth singles spot.
The Lady Tigers, who match the Tigers with a 2-2 record, faired no better, earning just one point in a 7-1 defeat by Middle Georgia. Majella Nobile and Jade Letheby were the lone scorers for Campbellsville. They defeated the Knights' Shelby Ashley and Yannick Garcia in No. 2 doubles, 8-5.
Middle Georgia State took the rest of the matches, although Bolor Enkhbayar was on her way to a possible victory (7-6, 5-3 DNF) before the match was called.
CU tennis will continue play tomorrow in the second day of the Georgia Gwinnett Invitational.
