Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – In each team's fourth match in four days, Campbellsville men's and women's tennis split with Reinhardt University today.
The Tigers managed a narrow 5-4 victory over the Eagles, while the Lady Tigers were defeated, 1-8.
Vladyslav Ladygin and Alejandro Soriano started the day off right with an 8-2 win over Maksim Yorsh and Nikita Hrynov. But the Eagles swung the momentum in their favor, winning the last two doubles matches 8-2 and 8-5.
Campbellsville used wins from Ladygin (6-3, 6-1), Soriano (6-4, 4-6, 6-2), and Adrian Sabrojo (6-2, 7-5) to put CU back on top. Viktor Ahlbeck and Eduard Mendoza both went to three sets en route to a pair of losses. Ahlbeck, playing in the No. 4 position, was defeated by Emory Deloach 1-6, 6-1, 6-2, and Mendoza took a loss to Branton Lane in three sets - 6-4, 3-6, and 6-3.
Johan Fuzellier's No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-2 win over Hrynov sealed the deal for the Tigers, who now improve to 3-4 on the season.
The Lady Tigers had trouble during doubles play today. Bolor Enkhbayar/Grace-Laura Rowe and Eliabeth Boik/Sarah Coffman each stole two points from Reinhardt, but nevertheless CU was swept in all three matches.
After the break, the Lady Tigers used Enkhbayar to collect the only match win of the day. Enkhbayar battled with Yamit Vodovaz, taking the first set 6-4 and dropped the second 5-7 before winning an extremely close tiebreak set, 10-7. Reinhardt took the rest of the singles matches.
The Lady Tigers drop to 2-4 on the season.
Both teams continue its spring break trip and will travel to Savannah, Ga. for a match against SCAD Savannah on Wednesday, March 16. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. ET.
