Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. – The 16th-ranked Tigers added another win to the books today after beating Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD Savannah) 5-2, while the Lady Tigers were swept in five matches.
The dynamic duo of Alejandro Soriano and Vladyslav Ladygin was the first to collect a victory, playing Kenta Naka and Sean Hadju in the top singles spot. They claimed the win in a close match, 7-5, while Zach Baulch and Victor Ahlbeck in the two spot fell to SCAD Savannah with an identical score.
Adrian Sabrojo and Noah Swencki also came out on top with an 8-4 win over Corrie Pickering and Josh Hewes-McCoy.
It only took CU three matches to take over in singles play. Starting with wins from Ladygin (7-5, 6-2) and Soriano (6-4, 6-1) in the one and two spots, Ahlbeck used the momentum to knock off SCAD's Pickering, 6-2 and 6-4.
Johan Fuzellier and Eduardo Mendoza were locked into their respective matches but left them unfinished after the Tigers' fifth point.
Tiger tennis moves to 4-4 after its second consecutive win.
The Lady Tigers were not so fortunate today as they were defeated, 5-0, by the fourth-ranked Bees.
Campbellsville could not gain any traction after a doubles sweep. CU's Bolor Enkhbayar and Majella Nobile were held scoreless by Camille Gbaguidi and Paige Murdock in the first game of doubles. The pair of Grace-Laura Rowe/Jade Letheby managed to steal three points in the second doubles match, and Elizabeth Boik/Sarah Coffman managed two games, but both came up with losses.
Enkhbayar faced No. 2 Gbaguidi, again in singles play but left the match unfinished 6-1, 2-1. Letheby was defeated by No. 19 Julia Albuquerque 6-1, 6-0 and Sarah Coffman could not hold on to the Bees Anastasia Castro, dropping the match 6-1, 6-2.
Nobile, Rowe, and CU's Haley Owens would not finish their respective matches.
The team drops to 2-5, but is still receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
Tiger and Lady Tiger tennis will return home for the first home match of the season. Campbellsville will take on Cornerstone University on March 19, with first serve set for for 10:30 a.m. ET.
