Box Score CAMPBELLSVILE, Ky. – The Tigers took the courts of the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex for the first time this spring and came away with an 8-1 victory over Cornerstone University.
Cornerstone (Mich.), a team receiving votes in the NAIA Coach's Poll, stole just one point from No. 16 Campbellsville in the second doubles match. The Tigers' Zach Baulch and Adrian Sabrojo were defeated in back-and-forth match by the Golden Eagles' Sam Ottosen and Austin Hendrick, 9-8.
Aside from that point, Campbellsville controlled the match. Vladyslav Ladygin swept Elijah Yi in No. 1 singles, while Soriano (6-0. 6-1), and Eduardo Mendoza (6-1, 6-0) only dropped one game each in their respective wins.
Viktor Ahlbeck was beaten 6-2Â in his first set against Hendrick, but managed a comeback for a 6-2 second-set win. He knocked Hendrick out in a long tiebreak, 11-9.
Johann Fuzellier and Austin Spalding also saw action for the Tigers, collecting individual singles wins.
Ladygin and Soriano had little trouble in an 8-3 win over Yi/Austin Hunt, while Mendoza and Noah Swencki took No. 3 doubles in 8-6.
The Tigers, now 5-4, await the newest NAIA rankings, which are scheduled to come out tomorrow.
Due to a cancellation of the Saturday afternoon matches against Indiana University Southeast, the Lady Tigers' home opener will now be Tuesday, March 22. Both the Tigers and the Lady Tigers will face off with conference opponent Cumberland University, with first serves scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
