Tigers roll past IWU, Lady Tigers fall to No. 9 Wildcats

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Tigers' creative doubles combinations led them to a sweep of Indiana Wesleyan University today, 6-0, while the Lady Tigers faltered against the No. 9 Wildcats, losing in five matches.

The 17th-ranked Tigers switched up the usual pairings in doubles play, separating the NAIA No. 11 duo of Vladyslav Ladygin and Alejandro Soriano. In the first match, Zach Baulch stepped up to partner with Ladygin and defeated IWU's Leonard Matthews and Brandon Dubuque, 9-7.

Viktor Ahlbeck made a rare appearance in doubles, combining with Adrian Sabrojo at No. 2 for an 8-5 victory. Alejandro Soriano and Eduardo Mendoza won their No. 3 match 8-2.

Ladygin, Sabrojo, and Johann Fuzellier were the only Tigers to finish their singles matches, all with big wins. Ladygin (6-1, 6-2) and Sabrojo (6-2, 6-1) collected a win each in the No.1 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Fuzellier knocked off Caleb Cottrell, 6-0, 6-2 to decide the contest for the Tigers. The match between Mendoza and Austin Christner was left unfinished, while the other two were not started.

Campbellsville moves to 7-5 on the season with the victory.

The Lady Tigers' found a tough matchup in the Lady Wildcats. IWU, home of the NAIA No. 1 doubles pair, gained momentum at the start of the match by sweeping doubles. Bolor Enkhbayar and Grace-Laura Rowe put up a good fight against the nation's top combo of Katie Wilson and Lucia Solis, stealing away five games before being knocked off, 8-5.

Jade Letheby/Majella Nobile (8-1) and Elizabeth Boik/Sarah Coffman (8-3) also dropped their doubles matches in their respective No. 2 and No. 3 matches.

Rowe made a comeback in her second set against Rachel Bottorff, but lost 6-1 and 6-3. Jade Letheby was defeated by Alex Mella in the No. 4 match, 6-0, 6-1. The remainder of singles play was not completed as two matches were left unfinished and two did not start.

The Lady Tigers, who continue to receive votes in the NAIA Top 25, drop to 2-8 on the season.

Campbellsville will have a quick turnaround, as the Lady Tigers will host Mid-South Conference foe St. Catharine on Sunday, April 3. First serves for the women's matches are set for 2 p.m. ET. The Tigers have already picked up a forfeit win, as St. Catharine does not have enough players to field a team.
