BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Campbellsville pounded out 12 hits in five innings and Neely Quint no-hit Shawnee in the opening game of the Mid-South Conference Tournament today, 8-0, at Michael O. Buchanon Park.
Quint (19-3) hit a batter and walked another in the first inning, but after that she was gold in the circle for the Lady Tigers, striking out four.
Her teammates didn't waste much time giving her a lead. Brianna Scott's first-inning single scored Jacqueline Roof for the only run CU (45-8) would need.
Four Lady Tigers had a multiple-hit game, led by Scott's 2-for-3 performance and three RBIs. Shelby Ray was 3-for-3 (RBI), Roof was 2-for-3 (RBI), and Brittany Rippy was 2-for-2 including a leadoff triple in the third.
Campbellsville scored three runs in the second on a Roof single, Ray triple and a Scott safety. Then a four-run fourth set the table for a run-rule win.
Ray and Scott had back-to-back doubles with one out in the fourth. Rebecca Miller and Hailey Szpila singled home run and Markie Smith completed the scoring when she scored Szpila with a two-bagger.
CU will meet the winner of the St. Catharine-Pikeville game today at 5 ET.
