Caven guided his 2012 men's and women's teams to a combined 23-9 overall record and 10-2 in conference. He receives both honors for the second-straight year and was also named the MSC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2009. This year's men's award is shared with Lindsey Wilson College coach Daniel Finn. The Coach of the Year honors were voted on by coaches around the MSC.

Also highlighted Thursday evening were Champion of Character award recipients Melanie Jones and John Harbold, both of CU. (Read More).

Six CU student-athletes, received first team All-Conference honors, as the Tigers and Lady Tigers both received first-team or honorable mention honors for their Top 5 singles players.

For the men, Carlos Anton, Sebastian Marot and Pablo Marot earned All-Conference honors, while Pontus Blom and Zac Malyon received honorable mention.

For the women, Megan Charity, Aspen Edwards and Anna Tumanyan received All-Conference honors, while Lindy Charity and Jenna Sallee received honorable mention.

Finally, eight CU student-athletes earned academic all-conference honors for maintaining at least a 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and being a sophomore or higher standing. CU posted the most

Men's players receiving the honor were Terry Caven, Zac Malyon, Pablo Numbela and Chase Padgett. Women's players receiving the honor were Kelsie Peckham, Stacey Drew, Kristen Hamrick and Melanie Jones.

The Mid-South Conference Tournament began Friday morning at the Boone Tennis Center in Lexington and concluded Saturday with CU in both championship matches against Lindsey Wilson College.
