MOREHEAD, Ky. — Lady Tiger cross country had its first completion of the season Friday night, finishing in fourth place at the Morehead State Eagle 5k with an average time of 22:33.
Freshman
Madison Dooley led the way for the Lady Tigers, crossing the finish line in 31
st place with a time of 21:15.4.
Campbellsville had a slew of underclassmen racing in their first meet, while veterans
Brandi Thomas,
Abby Wicke,
Elise Shainfeld and
Jessica Cook competed as well. The freshmen had a solid showing, with
Taylor Davis finishing in 42
nd place (22:26.2);
Miranda Rzendzian placing 47
th (23:10.5) and
Jennifer Maxwell placing 61
st (26:39.8).
Thomas led the way for the upperclassmen, placing 44
th (22:37.6). Shainfeld followed her in 48
th (23:11.4), while Cook was 50
th (23:17.9) and Wicke was 53
rd (23:44.1).
Eastern Kentucky University won the 5k with all seven runners placing in the Top 10. The Colonels' Charlotte Imer placed first with at time of 19:39.5.
Marshall University placed second, while Morehead State was third in the NCAA DI division. Charleston finished behind Campbellsville with an average time of 22:44.
Campbellsville will now have a week to prepare for the Mid-South Conference Preview on Saturday, Sept. 10 in Bowling Green, Ky.
