GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Lindsey Wilson used a different style in each match to pull out wins over Campbellsville in the ITA South Regional doubles and singles finals.
Brendan Aguilar, who was competing in both singles and doubles, teamed up with
Chrys Castro in the morning's double match but the duo fell to Lindsey Wilson's Denis Porcic and Alonso Tellez.
After getting behind 7-2, Aguilar and Castro won three-straight points – breaking serve once - to cut into the lead, 7-5. But Porcic and Alonso ended the CU rally, winning, 8-5.
Thirty minutes after doubles was complete, Aguilar and Porcic battled it out in singles. The heat and humidity played a major role, as the singles match took over two hours and thirty minutes.
After matching 6-2 wins for both, the third set looked as if Aguilar would run away with the singles title, taking a commanding 4-1 lead.
But Porcic rallied to win the next five to pull the come-from-behind victory.
Porcic and Tellez now advance to the ITA Small College Doubles Championship in October, while Porcic will also compete in the singles tournament.
