CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Tiger and Lady Tiger swimming honored five seniors today in Powell Athletic Center with victories over Bethel University.
The careers of
Jessica Cook,
Casey Galyon,
Devon Cross, Christopher Telman and
Brandon Wiseheart were celebrated in a Senior Day program highlighting their accomplishments in and out of the pool and the memories made in their time at Campbellsville.
Out of the five, three of them currently hold program records.
For the women, Cook holds the record in the 200-meter butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke. She also is part of the 200-meter freestyle, 200-yeard freestyle, 400-meter freestyle and 400-yard freestyle records. In addition, Cook is a part of the 400 medley relay program record.
On the men's side, Telman is a part of or holds 14 records. He holds 10 records in yards - 40 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay and the 800 freestyle relay. In meters, he holds four records – 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 200 medley and the 400 medley.
Also, Cross holds a pair of of individual records in meters – 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke. In meters, Cross broke the 200 breaststroke as well. In addition, he is also a part of three relays – 200 medley, 400 medley and 200 freestyle.
The Lady Tigers pulled out a 107-32 win over the Wildcats with nine first-place finishes — Galyon, Cook,
Mikayla Runner and
Chelsie VanWhy in the 200-meter freestyle relay (2:08.67);
Faith Hyde in the 200-meter freestyle (2:34.00); Cook in the 50-meter freestyle (31.10) and the 100-meter freestyle (1:08.54);
Lexie Upton in the 200-meter IM (2:54.58);
Katy Lewis in the 100-meter butterfly (1:18.05);
Kennedy Ludwig in the 100-meter freestyle backstroke (43.56); and
Lauren Dalton in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:30.76).
Seven first-place finishes completed the last home meet for the Tigers, earning 83.5 points to Bethel's 63.5 –
Isaac Lewis tied Bethel's Josh VanDyke in the 50-meter freestyle (26.03);
Austin Tucker in the 100-meter butterfly (1:15.93);
Tanguy Claisse in the 100-meter backstroke (1:08.22);
Tucker Hardin in the 400-meter freestyle (4:59.86);
Seth Jones in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:15.73); and
RJ Harris in the 200-meter IM (2:33.18) and 100-meter freestyle (1:01.81).
Tiger and Lady Tiger swimming travels to Centre College on Saturday, Jan. 21 for a final tune-up before the Mid-South Conference Championships. The MSC meet will be held Feb. 1-4 in Kingsport, Tenn. NAIA National Championships will follow Mar. 2-4 in Columbus, Ga.
