FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Tigers finished the NWCA National Duals in fifth place with a 26-13 win today over Cumberland University. Campbellsville has finished in the Top 5 of the nationals duals every year since 2009.
Adrian Camposano (125) gave the Tigers a quick 5-0 lead with a 15-0 technical fall over Sean Nguyen.
Kolten Radaz (133) fell by decision, 8-1, to Cumberland's Sammy Rosario, but
Jayce Carr (141) counteracted that with a pin to Austin Meyn in 3:48 to give Campbellsville an 11-3 lead.
The next three classes met their fate by decision.
David Sparks (149) won over Evan Cole, 5-1, Donnie Beyer (157) fell to Nate Croley by major, 14-5, amd LJ Henderson defeated John Olivieri, 4-1. Campbellsville gained six more points to Cumberland's four, bringing the score to 17-7 in the Tigers' favor.
Justin Brown (174) grabbed three more points in overtime with a 2-1 win over Orlando Nawade and
Chuck Sharon defeated No. 7 Kyle Delaune in a 6-3 decision.
A pin to
Tyler Rowland (197) by Robert Enmon in 3:31 granted the Phoenix six more points, but it wasn't enough to win the dual as
Nate Jackson (285) finished strong with a win over Tommie Turner by decision, 3-2.
The Tigers won the dual, 26-13, earning fifth place at the National Wrestling Coaches Association Duals.
