ROME, Ga. – Chrys Castro and
Alejandro Reyes represented Campbellsville in the NAIA men's doubles draw at the ITA Oracle Cup that took place at the Rome Tennis Center Thursday through Saturday.
Castro and Reyes finished fourth overall in the tournament after winning their first match, followed by a pair of 6-4, 6-2 losses to close the tournament.
Seeded third in the doubles draw, Castro and Reyes started the tournament with a three-set victory over Luke Whalen and John Joens of Westmont College. The Tiger duo took the first set, 6-3, before Whalen and Joens grabbed the second set, 6-4. In the final set tiebreaker, Castro and Reyes edged the Warrior pair, 10-7.
In the semifinals of the doubles draw, Castro and Reyes took on second-seeded Kevin Konfederak and Gilad Berman of Georgia Gwinnett College. Konfederak and Berman swept Castro and Reyes winning the first set, 6-4, followed by a 6-2 win in the second set.
Castro and Reyes slipped into the third-place match against Fabio Perasso and Nicolas Palacio of Cardinal Stritch University. For the second-straight day, the Tiger duo fell by the score of 6-4, 6-2 to drop its second match of the event and finish in fourth place.
Konfederak and Gilad swept their way to the ITA Oracle Cup NAIA Men's Double crown, while Konfederak also won the singles title at the tournament.
Campbellsville wrapped up its fall season on Saturday and now will switch its focus over to its spring schedule.
