MARIETTA, Ga. – Campbellsville's men's swimming team picked up it first dual meet victory of the season after edging Life University, 156-127, at the Mountain View Aquatic Center on Saturday night.
Brandon Bagwell put the first points on the board for the Tigers in the 50-yard freestyle after completing the event in 25.35.
Seth Jones recorded Campbellsville's second-straight runner-up finish in the 200-yard medley with time of 2:17.74.
In a head-to-head matchup in the 100-yard butterfly,
Matthew Monday picked up the first of two Campbellsville victories on the day after he beat out his teammate
Austin Tucker with a time of 59.48. Tucker finished the race in 1:10.02.
Josh Provost was the only Tiger swimmer to take part in the 100-yard freestyle, where he finished second after finishing the 100-yard race in 51.41.
Tanguy Claisse won the only other event for Campbellsville on Saturday where his time of 1:00.42 in the 100-yard backstroke was over a second ahead of the second-place finisher. Monday finished third in the race (1:02.42), while
Tucker Hardin was just behind in fourth (1:03.15).
The final individual events that saw the Tigers score was the 100-yard backstroke, where Jones compiled his second runner-up finish of the day with a 1:06.59 in the 100-yard breaststroke. He finished just 0.05 behind Life's Pavlo Chechel, who won the event.
Campbellsville did not score in the two relay events on Saturday.
Next up for the Tigers is a dual meet at home against Asbury University on Friday, Oct. 27 at 5:30 p.m. ET. The meet is part of Homecoming week.
