CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville men's swimming team dropped its second home dual meet of the season on Friday night to Asbury University, 123-74, in Powell Athletic Center Pool.
The Tigers now slip to 1-2 on the season in dual meet action.
Campbellsville's 400-meter medley relay team of
Matthew Monday,
Seth Jones,
Josh Provost and
RJ Harris started the competition with a victory after completing the race in 4:23.58. The quartet just hit the national A cut in the event.
Tanguy Claisse,
Justin Spalding,
Austin Tucker and
Tucker Hardin finished third in event with a 4:39.01.
Hardin and
Alex Meade finished second and third in the 1,500-meter freestyle with times of 19:37.97 and 20:45.44, respectively.
The Tigers had three racers touch the wall consecutively in the 200-meter freestyle with Harris finishing third (2:11.77), Provost touching the wall fourth overall (2:13.84) and Jones rounding out the trio in fifth (2:23.68).
In the 50-meter freestyle,
Justin Spalding posted a mark of 28.03 to finish third, while
Brandon Bagwell was just .04 seconds behind in fourth. Tucker finished off the Campbellsville competitors in the field with a 29.33 mark to finish fifth.
Claisse posted a second-place finish in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:34.57. Provost joined the Claisse with a runner-up finish in the 100-meter butterfly after completing the race in 1:04.42. Monday finished fourth in the butterfly and Tucker was sixth overall.
Harris posted the Tigers' third-straight runner-up finish in the 100-meter freestyle, where he posted a time of 58.55. Meade finished the race in just over a minute with a time of 1:07.63.
The second-place finishes continued to roll for Campbellsville with Monday notching a time of 1:07.78 in the 100-meter backstroke. Claisse was nearly two seconds behind in fourth in the event.
For the fifth-straight event the Tigers had a second-place finish with Hardin posting a second-place time of 4:58.06 in the 400-meter freestyle.
Campbellsville capped off the meet on a strong note after sweeping the top-three spots in the 100-meter breaststroke. Jones won the lone individual event for the Tigers with a time of 1:14.37. Bagwell (1:17.48) finished second followed by Spalding (1:19.87) in third.
On Saturday, Campbellsville hosts its Dance Maroon event at 6 p.m. ET. The Tigers are back in the pool next Saturday with a tri-dual against Lindsey Wilson College and Union College in Barbourville, Ky.
