CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville men's basketball team continues it seven-game homestand on Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. ET tipoff against Simmons College of Kentucky.
After suffering its first loss of the season just over a week ago, Campbellsville has won its last three games to push its overall record to 7-1. The Tigers have also notched a home record of 4-1 after picking up a 101-70 victory against Brescia University. The 7-1 mark for Campbellsville since the 2014-15 season, when the Tigers started the year at 19-1 overall.
In their last game, Campbellsville outscored the Bearcats, 61-36, in the second half to pick up a 101-70 victory. The 61 points in the second half are the most the Tigers have notched in a half this season. Tim Coleman led Campbellsville with 18 points and
Shawn Johnson was a rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Four players have averaged in double figures this season with
Hagen Tyler leading the way with 15.5 points per game. Coleman and Johnson have chipped in with 12.5 and 12 points apiece, while Andrew Smith has recorded 12.3 points per game off the bench this season. Adam Stanford is knocking on the door of averaging double figures with 9.9 points per game.
On the glass, the Tigers average 40.1 rebounds per game following a 47 rebounding effort against Brescia last Saturday and Johnson paces the team with 7.1 per game. Campbellsville leads the nation with a 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio and it is the only team in the nation with an assist-to-turnover ratio of over two.
Simmons of Kentucky enters the contest on Tuesday night with a record of 2-6 overall after dropping a 99-75 contest to Lindsey Wilson College last week. James Mosley led the Falcons in their last game with 20 points and seven rebounds against the Blue Raiders.
On the season, Nelson Kimijwok has paced Simmons with 14.4 points per game and 6.9 rebounds a contest, while recording 10 steals – which is second on the team. Kittrell Wither has chipped in with 13.3 points a game, while Korey Mosley is averaging 11.3 points per game.
Tuesday's matchup is set to be the first matchup between Campbellsville and Simmons.
Opening tip on Tuesday night is set for 7 p.m. ET inside the Powell Athletic Center, following the women's matchup between the Falcon and Lady Tigers.
