CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville's men's basketball team wraps up its seven-game homestand and home schedule for the 2017 portion of its season when it hosts Voorhees College on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET inside the Powell Athletic Center.
The Tigers enter the contest with a record of 8-1 overall and have won its last four games. During Campbellsville's four-game winning streak, it has scored over 100 points in its last three games, which marks the first time since 1995 the Tigers have compiled three-consecutive games with over 100 points.
Last time out against Simmons College of Kentucky, Campbellsville grabbed a 121-65 victory over the Falcons. The Tigers shot a scorching 63.9 percent from the floor, which set a new season best, and Campbellsville also recorded a season-high 60 rebounds. Adam Stanford recorded a double-double for the Tigers with 11 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with a game-high 18 points from Andrew Smith. Kel Livers, Deion Evans and Duke Robinson all had career nights with 16, 15 and 13 points, respectively.
On the season,
Hagen Tyler is leading Campbellsville in scoring with 14.8 points per game and he is one of five Tigers averaging at least 10 points per ball game. Smith has chipped in with 12.9 points off the bench, while Tim Coleman and
Shawn Johnson have scored 11.9 and 11.1 point per game this season. Following his double-double on Tuesday night, Stanford is now averaging 10 point a contest and leads the team with 7.3 boards per game.
As a team, Campbellsville leads the NAIA with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.0 and the teams 181 assists are sixth most in the nation. Johnson ranks second in the country as an individual with an 8.5 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Voorhees comes into the contest on Friday night with a record of 8-2 and defeated Johnson & Wales University during its last game on Wednesday night, 97-90. Over the last five games, Voorhees has gone 4-1 winning back-to-back games two different times and falling to Newberry College in the middle of that stretch, 101-94.
Four different players are averaging double figures this season with Alex Brooks leading the team with 14 points per game and a total of 14 steals. Malik Timmons – who is averaging 10.8 points a contest – leads the team in rebounding with 4.9 boards a game, but as a team Voorhees averages only 33.6 per contest. Voorhees ranks fifth in NAIA Division II with 10.8 steals per game this season and its 86 steals are 19th overall.
The last time Campbellsville and Voorhees faced off was on Nov. 27, 2015 at the Lindsey Wilson College Classic. Campbellsville earned a 78-49 victory. Both all-time meetings between the two programs have come at Lindsey Wilson's Classic in 2014 and 2015. The first meeting between Campbellsville and Voorhees featured Campbellsville earning a 94-73 victory.
