BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Lady Tiger soccer continues its postseason run on Thursday afternoon as Campbellsville meets Mid-South Conference regular season champion No. 16 Cumberland University at 3:30 p.m. ET in the MSC semifinal match at Warren Central High School.
Campbellsville enters the semifinal match for the first time since 2015 and are seeking to reach the championship match since that same season when the Lady Tigers went 19-3 overall and 6-1 inside conference play.
CU defeated University of the Cumberlands on Thursday, Nov. 3 after Rachel Blumfeldt uncorked a scoreless tie in the 61
st second. Campbellsville's defense held on down the stretch to hold on to its sixth shutout of the year.
Out of the seven wins for CU, the Lady Tigers have allowed only one goal - to Life University in a 4-1 victory.
Blumfeldt leads the team with 11 goals on the year, while fellow freshmen Kiersten Clunky has dished out four assists. Second-Team All MSC goalkeeper
Amanda Howard ranks second in the conference with 99 saves.
Cumberland enters the semifinal match after a 7-0 win over University of Pikeville last Thursday. Rebecca Holloway recorded two goals and two assists in the victory. The Phoenix outshot the Bears, 28-3, in the victory, forcing nine saves by Pikeville's Caitlyn Hunt.
Emily Shires leads the team with 12 scores on the year, while Holloway has 12 assists. Cumberland as a team ranks No. 11 with three assists per game and 54 total assists on the year. The Phoenix also rank No. 16 by scoring 62 goals coming into the weekend.
The Phoenix lost to Lindsey Wilson last season in the MSC championship match, 2-1.
In the regular-season matchup between Cumberland and Campbellsville, the Phoenix slipped past the Lady Tigers on the road, 2-1.
The second semifinal matchup features second-seeded Lindsey Wilson and third-seeded Georgetown at 6 p.m. ET. The Blue Raiders took down seventh-seeded Life, 4-0 in the quarterfinal round. The Lady Tigers edged out sixth-seeded Shawnee State 2-0, in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.
The Blue Raiders defeated the Lady Tigers, 1-0, in the regular season matchup played in Georgetown, Ky.
The winner of each semifinal match moves on to the finals of MSC Tournament on Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET at Warren Central High School.
The winner of the MSC Women's Soccer Tournament earns the conference's automatic bid in the NAIA National Championships, which begins later this month.
